This digital module, which has the same dimensions as an input channel, makes it possible to assign, via independent selectors, the direct outputs or the eight master outputs to an AD converter. A space has been designed to put in the very recent MINIR82, HDD and Compact Flash 8 track digital recorder with USB 2.0 externalisation.
Thus you can directly feed your internal or external recorder with AES, 16 or 24 bits, with an adjustable sampling rate of 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176 or 192 KHz.
Red LEDs can show a possible converter input saturation.
Thanks to a limiter it is possible to avoid disastrous digital clippings. So, though it can be disabled, we advise to always leave this limiter working.
AES outputs are available on a Sub-D25 connector on the back panel, requiring an adequate cable. So, with a recorder such as Cantar, it will be possible to record eight tracks using a simple wieldy cable with two Sub-D25 connectors.
Of course, it will be necessary to pay very detailed attention to sampling rate and to check sampling rate coherence between mixer and recorder, especially if mixer has been moved: setting switches can very easily be inadvertently commutated. Pyramix or Pro-Tools will however be able to correct this blunder.
This digital module, whose output is -6 dB FS for O dB VU on mixer, will thus be also appropriate for sound mixers who still undermodulate inputs in order to avoid any saturation, as they did with the SX-S.
