Cinela PIANO takes up the principles that made the success of OSIX and ZEPHYX, namely:
- personalization and modularity, which allows to suit many uses, and leads to a perfect adaptation between mic and suspension, thanks to the different sizes of cradle and plastic isolators;
- the exclusive Cinela suspended windshield cage;
- a very effective wind protection, while preserving sound transparency.
But above all, the Cinela PIANO benefits from some new original features:
- an asymmetrical ovoid shape, that leaves as much room as possible around the mic capsule, reduces wind resistance, and ensures a good balance and a perfect directionality locating, at boom pole end
- a two-part cage, cast in a truly unbreakable plastic;
- a lower number of parts forming the set, that reduces hazard noises, which had been alleged against the ZEPHYX;
- a new lightweight male / female XLR connector pair, integrated in cradle and swivel,
- a "mono" swivel, which dissociates rotation axis from clamping, which provides an effective clamping, without tightening too much;
- three new furs, short hair, long hair, and high wind hair (producing an important acoustic filtering); standard fabric being sufficient in moderate wind;
- potential adaptation to an MS system, or even Double-MS, by adding a CCM 8, a 3D-axis swivel and an XLR5 or XLR7.
Weighing only 370 grams including suspension, XLR connectors and fabric (as against 500 grams for Rycote), the Cinela PIANO is perfect for any half-shotgun microphone under 25 cm long, KMR 81, SuperCMIT, MKH 60, MKH 416 and CMIT 5. Three suspensions are used: OSIX 5-CMIT for CMIT and SuperCMIT, OSIX 5-60 for MKH 60, OSIX 6-416 for MKH 416 and KMR 81i. A new design for integrating the female XLR connector to the cradle facilitates a quick change of these modules. The PIANO can be adapted to slightly longer mics, up to 27 cm, such as Sanken CS3e or some AKG and Beyer.
